Artist :: Paula Masterman
Paula Masterman grew up in San Francisco, a very rich climate for the senses. She believes the Bay Area surrounds you with rich colors and textures.
Through the years, Paula has had some extreme experiences with Mother Nature - the 1980 Mt. St. Helens’ eruption, the 1989 Loma Prieta Earthquake and in 2001 a wildfire forcing an evacuation of her town. Seeing Mother Nature in action and experiencing the cultural diversity of the SF Bay Area have all left an imprint on Paula, inspiring her to use beads made of natural gemstones and use of stitches and techniques from different cultures around the world. Paula feels her beadwork reflects her respect for the variety of colors and textures of life.
Paula has been creating wearable art jewelry since 1993. She always referred to it as her “mental therapy” while working as a paralegal at a local law firm and raising her family. Once her sons had grown into incredibly wonderful adults and she left the law office, she felt it was time to stretch her wings and challenge her creativity. This process evolved her beadwork into a fine art level with the creation of her beaded sculptures and wall-hangings. She now devotes her time fully to being a beadwork artist and Angel Therapy Practitioner®.
